Hartford Hospital has been a Level I Trauma Center, verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), for well over 30 years. It was started under the leadership of Dr. Lenworth M. Jacobs and continues to this day currently led by Dr. Jonathan Gates as Trauma Medical Director, and Monika Nelson as Trauma Program Manager. The Hartford Hospital Trauma Program has a multidisciplinary team of highly trained specialists available 24/7 to provide comprehensive care for injured patients.
