Connecticut Children’s is the only free-standing pediatric hospital in Connecticut. It’s mission is to improve the physical and emotional health of children through family-centered care, research, education and advocacy. It serves as the primary pediatric teaching hospital for the UConn School of Medicine and has a teaching partnership with the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. It is an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and the only Children’s Surgery Verified Center in Connecticut. It not only serves as a tertiary pediatric referral center beyond the greater Hartford area but reaches as far as Fairfield County and southern Massachusetts.
