About me
Dr. Arroyo received his undergraduate education at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology and a minor in psychology. Dr. Arroyo received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Connecticut school of medicine in 2002. After completing medical school he did a pediatric residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset Long Island. Dr. Arroyo followed his residency with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Schneider Children’s Hospital and then a point of care ultrasound fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center both in new Hyde Park Long Island. He has been practicing at Maimonides Medical Center for 20 years and is the current Director of the pediatric emergency medicine department . A third generation Maimonides employee Dr. Arroyo started his career in medicine when he was born at Maimo. Both his father and grandmother were Maimonides employees. He and the emergency medicine leadership were instrumental in the formation of the pediatric trauma center at MMC, the only accredited leveled trauma center in Brooklyn for it 630,000 children. He spearheaded the opening of the brand new state of the art pediatric emergency department, and largest PEDSED in Brooklyn. Combat sports is his side passion, working events ad a ringside physician for every fight sport in the country. He has been a New York State Athletic Commission physician for 9 years and has thousands of rounds of combat sports experience. Dr. Arroyo has lectured around the world and is an expert in point of care ultrasound. He resides in Brooklyn with his wife Sharon who is also a pediatric emergency medicine physician and his three children Colin, Grayson and Karra.
